Frequently Asked Questions

Does “classified:good” just mean that you think the item is “good”?

For us, classified:good takes on a specialized meaning in the realms of education, child development, consumer goods, and community engagement.  We are thinking about how communities share knowledge and experience, work and play together, and create a sense of place and belonging.  We’re centered on education yet focused on living.

Traditional education pulls the disciplines apart with long-lasting implications.  Learners are forced to pick favorites and prioritize them against each other, leaving some knowledge and experience behind.  We lose track of how the disciplines fit together in everyday life and, consequently, how the people who engage in the disciplines fit together.

The classified:good mark indicates curated opportunities to observe, experience, or engage the disciplines in tandem even when exploring a particular discipline in depth, creating platforms and space to reassemble the fragmented educational and communal puzzle pieces.

How do products make the classified:good cut?

It’s a matter of 1, 2 & 3!

Principle 1: Arts-Integrated STEM.  They integrate science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) and the visual, literary, or musical Arts.

Principle 2: Designed for Life.  They are playable, wearable, useable, learnable, or teachable in life beyond the classroom.

Principle 3: Edutainment for Everyone.  They inspire joy, community, and excellence.

What does the classified:good marking always mean?

The classified:good marking always means that we’ve identified the item as meeting classified:good Principle 1, Principle 2, and Principle 3 and that we are offering the item to the public for sale or distribution.  This marking applies to every product and service we offer.

Does the classified:good marking indicate who has made it?

The classified:good marking sometimes means that we’ve made the item ourselves; we are the sole owners of the design, process and product; and that we and our licensees have exclusive permission to distribute the item.

What does the classified:good marking mean for third-party goods?

The classified:good marking sometimes means that we’ve curated several items that together fulfill classified:good Principle 1, Principle 2, and Principle 3.  The classified:good marking on the conjoint packaging indicates the bundle’s fulfillment of the principles.

What does the classified:good marking on individual items mean?

The classified:good marking sometimes means that we are inviting others to participate in activities or engage with products that fulfill classified:good Principle 1, Principle 2, and Principle 3.  It is a reminder call to take in a holistic view of the world around us.
